Wetlands
The estuary of the Iwakigawa river, which is located in the northwest of Aomori Prefecture, consists of vast reed beds, brackish lakes, rice paddies and apple farms. The lower part of the Iwakigawa river has reed beds that are burned every year for maintenance purpose.
